The bridge is open now, but there is still no school. We knew this could and would happen, but this is our first time experiencing it. Sometimes the bridge will close during the school day. If that happens, I would have to race to school to pick Ethan up, if it is an emergency, the school would just have Ethan get on the bus and I would have to pick him up at the bus stop. If the bridge closes and the kids don't get out of school on time, the teachers stay there with the kids. Who knew? We are used to snow days, not flood days. ( : I guess it really doesn't take too long for the flooding to go away. The river runs into the ocean so when the tide is high, the river doesn't have as much area to drain, and backs up, thus the flooding. And with all the rain we have been getting, (March gets a lot of rain) the river overflows. Needless to say, Ethan was excited this morning!

Kilauea Town

Then you hit the metropolis of Kappa'a. This town reminds me of Lilo & Stitch.

We love this mural painted on one of the buildings.

This is part of the Royal Coconut Coast. In this field of coconut trees is a donkey that we always try to spot. "Where's Waldo?" Daddy always says.

This is the Nounou Mountain Ridge or "Sleeping Giant"

And of course, we see lots of these guys!
