Rainy Day=No School Day

The Hanalei Bridge was closed this morning due to the river flooding. Lucky us, no school!

The bridge is open now, but there is still no school. We knew this could and would happen, but this is our first time experiencing it. Sometimes the bridge will close during the school day. If that happens, I would have to race to school to pick Ethan up, if it is an emergency, the school would just have Ethan get on the bus and I would have to pick him up at the bus stop. If the bridge closes and the kids don't get out of school on time, the teachers stay there with the kids. Who knew? We are used to snow days, not flood days. ( : I guess it really doesn't take too long for the flooding to go away. The river runs into the ocean so when the tide is high, the river doesn't have as much area to drain, and backs up, thus the flooding. And with all the rain we have been getting, (March gets a lot of rain) the river overflows. Needless to say, Ethan was excited this morning!

I bet he was very excited. We have to make up for 11 snow days. School closes for any little sckiff of snow here in Ky. I can't stand it.

WOW! All of your pics and music and info. really makes me anxious to go on a Hawaiian vacation. The last time we were there though, we had centipedes about 5 inches long come out everynight and geckos on the walls. My sister used to live on Oahu, and said that we just got a bum deal on the house we rented. What a beautiful place to live though. We miss you.
